Friday, 26 Oct 2018: Arrive Charleston; SC; Welcome Dinner (D)
Schedule your arrival no later than 4:00pm and take local transportation to the hotel. The tour begins at 6:00pm in the lobby of the hotel. We will make introductions at our Welcome Meeting and then depart for a local restaurant for our Welcome Dinner. Overnight Charleston - 2 nights
Saturday, 27 Oct 2018: Morning City Tour; Magnolia Plantation and Grounds Tour (B)
Our day begins with a tour of Charleston to get better acquainted with our surroundings and discover all the city has to offer. Then we're off to visit Magnolia Plantation, founded in 1676 by the Drayton family. Magnolia Plantation has survived the centuries and has been witness to the history of our nation from the American Revolution through the Civil War and into present day. It is the oldest public tourist site in the low country, and has the oldest public gardens in America. Its doors opened to visitors in 1872 to allow guests to view the thousands of beautiful flowers and plants in its heralded gardens. Upon returning from the plantation, the remainder of the afternoon is yours to enjoy as you wish.
Sunday, 28 Oct 2018: Beaufort, SC; Continue on to Savannah, Group Dinner (B,D)
We leave Charleston today for the lovely seaside town of Beaufort, SC. Beaufort delights visitors with its breathtakingly beautiful natural vistas and impressive architecture from the colonial and antebellum eras. Beaufort remains the Queen of the South Carolina Sea Islands thanks to its charm, natural beauty, fascinating history, and rich and diverse cultural heritage. We enjoy free time in Beaufort before continuing on to Savannah. After checking into our hotel, we will have dinner together. Overnight Savannah - 2 nights
Monday, 29 Oct 2018: Savannah Walking Tour; Afternoon Free Time (B)
Today experience Savannah's rich history via a city tour that will help you understand the significance of the city's architectural layout, introduce you to the city's famous (and infamous) characters, and glimpse stately homes dating back to before the Civil War. This afternoon is at leisure to explore Savannah's historic waterfront area. River Street runs along the waterfront and has some of the city’s best shopping and dining. You might want to view the harbor and port by taking an optional riverboat cruise.
Tuesday, 30 Oct 2018: Morning Return to Charleston; Free Afternoon; Farewell Dinner (B,D)
This morning we return to Charleston. You will have the entire afternoon to continue exploring the charm of of this city. Your Tour Leader will provide suggestions of things to do. Ideas include visiting the old city market to watch the women weave baskets, taking a boat tour of the harbor to visit Fort Sumter where the first shots of the Civil War were exchanged, or touring through gracious homes and gardens in Charleston’s historic district. This evening we will re-group for our Farewell Dinner and reminisce about our favorite things this past week. Overnight Charleston - 1 night
Wednesday, 31 Oct 2018: Return Home from Charleston (B)
Sadly, our time together has come to an end. Make your return flight at your convenience. Based on the departure time you provide WTT, your Tour Leader can assist with organizing travelers into small groups so you can ride-share to the airport if you wish.
