Sunday, April 19: Arrive Albuquerque and travel to Santa Fe as a group. Arrive Albuquerque, NM no later than 2:30pm. Upon arrival at the Albuquerque airport please collect your bags and gather at the Visitor’s “Greeting Center” located in the center of the lower level. The WTT tour leader will greet you at the airport where we will depart as a group and drive the 60 minutes to Santa Fe. Our hotel is in the heart of Old Santa Fe and is one block from the famous Canyon Road with its many galleries and museums. Monday, April 20: Walking tour of Santa Fe and O'Keeffe Museum. Today we start with a walking tour, allowing us to observe the architecture for which Santa Fe is famous, plus visit the Georgia O’Keeffe museum. There will be plenty of time today to explore the incredible galleries and art shops. Enjoy your choice of the many fine restaurants in Santa Fe. (B)
Tuesday, April 21: Bandelier National Monument. Today’s adventure takes us to Bandelier National Monument, an extensive complex of cliff dwellings built by the Anasazi, ancestors of today’s Pueblo culture. We will plan to return to Santa Fe by mid-afternoon so you can explore some more and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant. (B)
Wednesday, April 22: Taos and the Rio Grande After having breakfast at our hotel, we will head out for Taos – no trip to Santa Fe would be complete without visiting this part of New Mexico. The best way to explore Taos is on foot, starting with the Taos Plaza. Part of our drive today will take us to the famous Rio Grande Gorge bridge where we can park and get a good, if somewhat dizzying, view of the fast flowing river below. This entire drive will be filled with scenery to delight the eye and camera. We will have dinner together and return to Santa Fe. (B, D)
Thursday, April 23: Tramway with Lunch and Return to Albuquerque This morning we will depart Santa Fe and return to Albuquerque. We'll take our time returning so that we can enjoy a lovely drive through the mountains with stops along the way. On the outskirts of Albuquerque we will take the world's longest passenger tramway up the Sandia mountain for lunch and to take in the fabulous views from the top. Later in the afternoon we will visit Old Town Albuquerque before finishing the day at our hotel. (B, L)
Friday, April 24: Gathering of the Nations Today we spend the day at the American Indian "Gathering of Nations." This annual event brings together Native Americans from across the US and Canada to share their native culture, dance, dress and artwork. www.gatheringofnations.com We will conclude our day by having dinner together to celebrate in our own way the lovely time we have spent together.
