Winter is a fabulous time to be outside when you have endless miles of trails that wind through beautiful snow-filled woods and across open fields and frozen rivers. What can you do on these trails? How about lots of things! Our time here will give to a taste of the following activities:

Come join us as we travel to the shores of Lake Superior to play in the snow, play with the dogs, and soak up the natural beauty of the area. If we get lucky we could even see the Northern Lights.

Sunday, 10 January:  Arrive Duluth, Minnesota

You will fly to Duluth, Minnesota today, arriving no later than 2:30pm. We will travel from the Duluth Airport to the Lutsen Resort (www.lutsenresort.com), making a stop for a bite to eat along the way.  When we arrive, we will have time to settle in and explore our surroundings. (Light Dinner)

Monday, 11 January: Morning Snowshoeing and Afternoon playing in the snow. Evening Horse-Drawn Sleigh Ride.

This morning after a hardy breakfast we will take a leisurely snowshoe walk.  We will have some basic instruction and then we will explore as a group. From snowshoeing we will go over to the local ski mountain and enjoy the chair lifts, the views from the mountaintop, and play in the snow for the afternoon.  We'll return to the lodge and relax a bit before going back out for an evening sleigh ride. What fun!  (B)

Tuesday, 12 January:  Introduction to Cross-Country Skiing; Afternoon outing to Grand Marais and Dinner

This morning we’ll go for a cross county ski. The trails are appropriate for all ski levels and the guides will provide the instruction you need to improve your skiing techniques.  The breathtaking winter scenery and wildlife will send tingles down your spine.  This afternoon you will have the opportunity to unwind and relax before we gather for a trip to the nearby town of Grand Marais.  Here we will enjoy a home-made dinner at the Pie Place.  (B,D)

Wednesday, 13 January: Dog Sledding and Evening Free

Today we will harness the true natural power of these amazing animals.  Sled dogs are some of the funniest, friendliest, most quirky dogs there are and they love to run!

During the day you will have the opportunity to receive instruction and then drive a team of dogs, as well as ride in a sled while a professional dog musher drives the team. We will split into 2 groups today so that we can alternate our morning and afternoon activities of mushing and riding. Lunch today will be provided while we are out with the dogs. The evening we'll grab a light dinner before returning to the lodge. (B,L, Light Dinner)

Thursday, 14 January:  Day of Pampering/Optional Activities

Today is yours to design.  For those interested, we will arrange for a massage therapist to come to the hotel and give you a relaxing massage to soothe your well-exercised body (massage not included in tour cost)

Depending on when your massage is scheduled, you will have time to enjoy the whirlpool, curl up by the fire and read or for the adventurer take another cross country ski or snowshoe trek (additional equipment rentals not included).

Today would be the day to give snowmobiling a try for those interested (snowmobile rental not included in cost of the tour). If you have never tried snowmobiling, you should!  It is a blast!

This evening we will meet for dinner at the lodge and share the wonderful experiences we have had on our trip. (B,D)

Friday, 15 January:  Breakfast and Return Home

We’ll share a final breakfast and leave the resort by 8:00 a.m.  If time permits we will make a stop along the way and see Gooseberry Falls and Splitrock Lighthouse. We will return to the Duluth airport by 10:00 a.m.  Make your return flights for 11:30am or later. (B)
