New England Sampler
Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine

September 20 - 26, 2009

Take a trip that will introduce you to the similarities and differences the states of Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine have to offer. From rural Vermont to the White Mountains in New Hampshire to the rugged coast in Maine, these three states have a lot of sights packed into a small space. We will begin our trip in Vermont and make our way east, stopping to enjoy the scenery, the maple syrup, the mountains, the quaint villages, the water and the seafood. Plus, we’ll do a lot of leaf viewing as fall settles into the region. This tour is truly a sampling of the best of New England. Come join us as we see the sights!

Fly to Manchester, New Hampshire and arrive no later than 5:00 p.m.  Upon arrival you will transfer to the hotel where you will check in and then meet as a group at 6:00pm. After introductions we will go to dinner and talk about the week ahead. (D)

Monday, September 21: Woodstock, VT and the Vermont Country Store

We have two destinations today – Woodstock and the Vermont Country Store. Both stops today will transport you back in time when small towns were the center of life for the residents and a country store stocked everything you would ever want. We will conclude our day in Montpelier. (B)

Tuesday, September 22: Montpelier; Morse Maple Farm and Cabot Creamery

Enjoy free time to stroll around Montpelier, the capital city of Vermont. After lunch we will visit Morse Maple Farm for an education (and taste!) on how maple syrup is produced. From here we visit Cabot Creamery to see how the famous Cabot Cheese is made. We return to New Hampshire this afternoon with a leisurely drive to Bretton Woods. Overnight Bretton Woods. (B, D)

Wednesday, September 23: White Mountains, New Hampshire

Our day begins with breakfast before heading out on a full day of touring in the White Mountains. Enjoy a wonderful tram ride up Cannon Mountain and a tour at historic Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods. Thursday, September 24: Portland, Maine & the Portland Headlight

We travel east this morning for a full day in and around Portland. Our first stop will be a visit to the Portland Headlight. Have a deli-lunch overlooking Casco Bay. Enjoy the remainder of the afternoon exploring Portland's waterfront district. (B, L)

Friday, September 25: Boothbay, Maine

Today we travel north to our destination  - Boothbay on the Atlantic Ocean. This charming sea-side town boasts a beautiful harbor with dozens of tiny islands.
