Friday, October 3 - Arrival, Welcome Dinner Arrive Albuquerque no later than 5:00pm. The tour begins at 6:00pm at the hotel. Should you arrive earlier in the day your WTT tour leader will greet you at the hotel and have suggestions of things to do before we meet as a group at 6:00pm and then go to dinner together. (D)
Saturday, October 4: Old Town Albuquerque, Optional Hot Air Balloon Ride Today is your opportunity to take a hot air balloon ride, meet and talk to some of the balloon owners, and enjoy the sights. The day starts with an early morning mass ascension and other festival events. We will remain at the park this morning giving you time to see the exhibits, enjoy the wine festival (admission not included in your tour price), and pick up a bite to eat at one of the many food vendors at the festival. This afternoon we will visit Old Town Albuquerque where you may want to visit the Turquoise Museum, the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History or see authentic adobes up to 300 years old in the Old Town Plaza. We will spend our evening at the balloon field to see the "twilight twinkle glow" and fireworks show. Dinner tonight will be on your own. (B)
Sunday, October 5: See Mass Ascension, Tramway, Pueblo Indian Cultural Center This morning we will get up early to see the mass ascension of over 800 balloons. Watch as they fill the blue sky of New Mexico with a blaze of colors. We will then take the world's longest passenger tramway up the Sandia mountain for lunch and to take in the fabulous views from the top. To become acquainted with Native American culture, we will visit the Pueblo Indian Cultural Center in the afternoon. We will return to the balloon park this evening to see the fireworks. Dinner will be on your own. (B,L)
Monday, October 6: Day trip to Santa Fe Today we will depart for Santa Fe, where you will have the day free to visit the many museums, shops and galleries. As the heart of the city and the place where Santa Fe was founded, the Plaza is the city's most historic area. It is surrounded by museums, historic buildings, restaurants, galleries and endless shopping. This town is a living artists' colony, containing some of the most beautiful sculptures and works of art you are likely to see anywhere. Museum Hill is a collection of 4 of the cities most interesting museums: Museum of International Folk Art, Museum of Indian Arts & Culture, Museum of Spanish Colonial Art, and the Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian. We will return to Albuquerque this evening, have dinner together and share our favorite memories from our time together. (B,D)
Tuesday, October 7: Return Home Return flights at your convenience. Your tour leader will assist in coordinating airport transfers. (B)
