Itinerary
B = Breakfast, L = Lunch, D = Dinner
Monday, 1 July 2013 – Arrive Moab, Utah; Dinner Together (D)
Arrive at your convenience, but no later than 4pm. Transfers for all travelers arriving by 4pm. We will meet in the hotel lobby at 5:00pm to make introductions, and then go out for an early dinner before attending our pre-rafting briefing.
Tuesday, 2 July 2013 – On the Colorado River (B,L,D)
Today we will depart our hotel early, leaving behind in secure storage, the items you do not wish to take on the river. We depart the Moab Adventure Center at 7:30am for the "put-in" point on the Colorado River. After a safety orientation and loading our gear onto the raft we're off. Each day will bring new sights, new rapids, new hikes, and new wonders. It’s time to forget about the outside world for a while!
Wednesday, 3 July – On the Colorado River (B,L,D)
Glide along on smooth-flowing currents winding through Canyonlands National Park. Sculpted sandstone, isolated buttes, and red rock castles offer unparalleled vistas for picture taking. Hike to ancient Indian ruins, pictographs, a breathtaking outlook high above the mighty Colorado, and powerful Indian Creek Falls. Capture the excitement to come with rapids before camp today.
Thursday, 4 July – On the Colorado River (B,L,D)
As the canyon deepens to 2,000 feet, the mood of the river changes drastically. Here you'll experience over 30 whitewater rapids! In one of the Colorado’s most notorious stretches called the "Big Drops", our raft plunges 30 feet in a matter of minutes through rapids that match those of the Grand Canyon in power and difficulty. Loosen your grip after Imperial Rapid and perhaps explore the tranquil pools and majestic falls of Dark Canyon. Relax at the end of the day and enjoy our camp where the river meets Lake Powell.
Friday, 5 July – Afternoon Take-out; Scenic Flight back to Moab; Overnight Moab (B,L)
Savor a soothing morning in the sun-drenched canyons of Lake Powell. Enjoy lunch and a refreshing swim in a shady canyon cove before bidding farewell to the mighty Colorado.
Our adventure continues as we enjoy a scenic return flight to Moab over Canyonlands National Park, retracing the path of our rafting adventure. After landing in Moab at approximately 3pm, we will return to the Adventure Center to collect personal items stored there before checking in at our hotel and cleaning up. The remainder of the evening is at leisure.
Saturday, 6 July – Arches National Park; Afternoon free to explore Moab; Farewell dinner (B,D)
We will begin our day at Arches National Park. This park contains the world's largest concentration of natural arches - sublime spans of stone that seem to defy gravity. Some are delicate ribbons curving skyward and then twisting back to the earth. Others are openings chiseled into massive mountains of otherwise solid rock. We will travel the scenic canyon drive providing easy access to some of the most impressive sites. The afternoon is free to explore the trendy artist community of Moab. We will gather tonight for our farewell dinner, not wanting the magic to end.
Sunday, 7 July – Return Home at your leisure (B)
Unfortunately, it's time to return home. The WTT tour leader will organize transfers back to the airport, based on return flight times.
